9:10pm: Questions about Dreamwidth
I just set up my Dreamwidth journal tonight and need a little info from other Dreamwidth users:

1. If I import my Livejournal to Dreamwidth, does my Livejournal disappear here on LJ?
2. How do I set up a mood them?
3. If you are on Dreamwidth, how do I find you?

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Hugs,

Ace

10:59am: The SOPA Boycotts: One Single Post
Originally posted by [info]morgandawn at The SOPA Boycotts: One Single Post
Wil Wheaton blogged today about the MPAA directly threatening those politicians who came out against SOPA:

"
Reinforcing the fact that Chris Dodd really does not get what’s happening, and showing just how disgustingly corrupt the MPAA relationship is with politicians, Chris Dodd went on Fox News to explicitly threaten politicians who accept MPAA campaign donations that they’d better pass Hollywood’s favorite legislation… or else:
“Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake,”
It shows, yet again, that he just doesn’t get it. People were protesting not just because of the content of these bills, but because of the corrupt process of big industries like Dodd’s “buying” politicians and “buying” laws. To then come out and make that threat explicit isn’t a way to fix things or win back the public. It’s just going to get them more upset, and to recognize just how corrupt this process is."

And since there have been several posts about the Black March boycott and the SOPA Boycott, we've pulled all the info and the links into a public Google doc so you can link to only one post (and also link to it off LJ - the "Repost it to your journal" button only works on LJ.) And I am certain some of us could use a break from the constant reposting. ;-)

The TinyURL link is:

And last here is a great video that explains what the media industry has been trying to do since the creation of audio and video cassette recorders and why they are going to continue trying (like making it illegal to print a copy of a child's drawing to top your kids' birthday cake).

We had to put our beloved Tuxedo kitty to sleep today. She was suffering from kidney failure and had lost half her body weight since December.

She was a darling, darling girl and I will miss her forever.

Goodbye sweetheart....

12:43pm: In Memoriam
In memory of family and friends who have lost the battle with cancer; and in support of the ones who continue to conquer it! Post this on your LJ if you know someone who has or had cancer. 93% won't copy and paste this. Will you?

My stepfather, Bob Hood: lung cancer - 1990 - my mother has been alone since losing him.

Thamiris - incredible Smallville writer: Breast cancer - 1997 - I miss her every day.

My younger brother, Ken: colon cancer, liver cancer, lung damaged by chemo - currently cancer-free for 4 years. He just turned 50 and is going strong. Sometimes you can win.

To all of my friends in LJ-land, I wish you all the best for this Holiday Season.

9:55pm: Update on recent issue
The seller of the unauthorized fanzine of Without A Trace responded very quickly to my request and has taken the auction down. She had purchased the item with a group of other fanzines at MediaWest in May 2009 and assumed it was an actual fanzine.

I sincerely appreciate her rapid and gracious response, however, my journal will remain friends only until my trust in fandom repairs itself. My thanks to everyone who has contacted me during this crisis of faith, I do love you all.

FYI: my friending policy is thus - if you add me to your friends list, I will friend you in return. If you have friended me and I have not returned the favor, send me an e-mail at rosewood@inreach.com and I will rectify the situation. If you are already on my friends list, I am not deleting anyone but thank you profusely for checking in today.

Hugs to all!

Ace

11:17pm: WTF
This travesty has just been brought to my attention and as an author, I am furious. Someone has apparently created a fanzine from my story Without A Trace and someone else is selling it on e-bay.

This has been done without my knowledge. The fanzine has been created without my permission. Someone has stolen from me and is profitting from my work.

If any of you find this zine, let me know who is selling it and who printed it. I know I haven't written anything since my beta passed away - and things like this will damn well guarantee I won't write anything again. This journal will be locked to friends only as soon as I get back from Comi-con.

No love

Ace

9:05pm: When fandoms collide
I have a fic to post here and it's a departure for me. While Smallville remains one of my true obsessions, I've recently discovered Due South -- both the show and the fandom, thanks to my pusher... dear friend and beta, Diluvian. When this woman pimps something, look out. She's a powerhouse....

The story below combines both of my fandoms, Smallville and Due South and was written for the [info]getfraserlaid challenge. This is my first foray into writing Due South, so I hope I got the character voices right. The prompt and the story are behind the cut.
